SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER IN TEST (SDET)

Stellar Science develops software for use by experts across a range of engineering and scientific disciplines. We primarily build user-facing desktop applications that provide advanced visualizations and controls for modeling real-world systems in software.  We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help shape and maintain all aspects of software development from a quality perspective.
At Stellar Science, everyone in the team owns software quality and testing. The SDET will work with in-house and external scientists and developers to help shape and maintain all aspects of software development from a quality perspective. Other key functions for this role include cross-team coordination to diagnose and resolve failing tests, developing and maintaining Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines and other build and test infrastructure, and occasional manual testing of software.
The ideal candidate will be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle to improve both the development and user experience. Professional experience or education in software development or engineering is required. This position will not involve regular late-night testing sessions to meet release deadlines or serve as the gatekeeper to quality.
Our stack:

  • Willingness to undergo background investigation and perform some work at government sites
Desired:
  • Experience with any of the technologies mentioned above
  • B.S. in computer science, physics, math, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience working in space, directed energy, imaging, or other science or engineering domains

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
